In October 2011 we will begin the second year of our Strengthening Youth Security project in the Belize-Guatemala border area (see below). A new project under development is the Transformative Education Network (TEN) a school improvement programme that trains children, young people, parents and teachers in innovative ways to inspiring learning.

Strengthening Youth Security - A strategy for youth and community development through peace, creativity and exchange
A two year project providing training in areas such as leadership, group work, project management, personal development and community arts. This project works with at at-risk youth in the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone. Project activities include:

• Arts workshops for children from five communities
• Street circus workshops
  
• Homework and literacy club
• Promoting non-violence 
• Environmental education
• Arts training for teachers
• Regional networking and youth exchange
• Renovations of the Youth Development and Community Arts Centre

Funded by: US Government State Department (CARSI Grant); British High Commission - Belize; Caracol UK and other individuals, groups and organizations through 'in-kind' donations such as facilities, services, transport & equipment.
